One of the ways in which you can measure the total charges on an offshore investment plan is to check their “Reduction in Yield” (RIY). This is a measure of how much the plan needs to grow every year in order to cover the charges.
As you may expect, the figure can vary tremendously between different companies, savings plans and length of term of investments.
Here I have attached the RIY figures for the range of Hansard International Regular Savings Plans – Focus, regular Capital Builder and the new Aspire savings plan.
Of course, these assume that you continue to make payments for the whole term. Nevertheless they are about the only way you can start to judge between different companies.
