Guy de Blonay – ‘Specialist Fund Manager of the Year 2008′

Guy de Blonay, manager of the New Star Global Financials Fund, is a talented and disciplined fund manager. European performance gathers momentum

The recovery in performance of the New Star European Growth Fund has gathered pace. The fund outperformed the FTSE Europe ex-UK Total Return Index by 1.95 percentage points in March†. It was the top fund in the Equity Europe excluding UK sector in March and first decile for the first three months of 2008. Contributions in March came from Kone, Grafton and Randstad. Global outlook Q1 2008

Stockmarkets fell in January in response to economic and credit crisis concerns, stabilised in February but fell again in early March, when US non-farm payroll numbers showed a 63,000 decline, the biggest drop since March 2003.
